Join the Design Against Fur Contest 2009!
FOUR PAWS is supporting the annual international poster design competition initiated by the Fur Free Alliance and has invited design students at several renowned colleges and universities to hand in poster concepts and speak out against the fact that over 75 million animals fall prey to the fur industry each year.
Over the past twenty years, FOUR PAWS has continued to launch various campaigns focusing both on public awareness and limiting the legal framework in which this multi-billion industry operates. In countries such as Austria, these campaigns have led to an abolishment of fur farms early on. Nonetheless, the fur trade still thrives - particularly in heralding fur applications on clothes, which consumers largely believe to be made out of leftovers. However, these applications have become one of the main trade items for the industry: most foxes kept on fur farms these days die for such unnecessary fashion add-ons. FOUR PAWS has also staged recent campaigns directing consumers on the labeling aspects of fur products, which are designed to blur their origin and thus the suffering that comes with the purchase.
Commendation certificates and cash prizes The Design Against Fur Contest is open for submissions until April 30, 2009 - participating students will have to register on the official website two weeks prior to the deadline. Format rules, logos to include, as well as registration and copyright forms may also be downloaded online. Young designers are free to create their own message and wording, and are completely ad lib creatively. A jury of design professionals will choose the best entrants, who will receive commendation certificates and cash prizes of up to € 1000 for the continental competition and the People's Choice Award. The global competition will then honour a Grand Prize Winner with a US $ 2500 cheque. FOUR PAWS will feature the best domestic contributions on this website.
