Animal testing for cosmetics

The dimension of animal testing for cosmetics is much bigger than consumers know. Worldwide innumerable animals suffer immensurable pain and even get killed for the testing of cosmetic ingredients and products.

 EU's-Cosmetics Directive

In 2003 the European Council and the European Parliament agreed on a compromise text for the 7th amendment to the Cosmetics Directive. The new law includes a marketing, as well as an animal testing, ban. In the future the marketing of cosmetic products will be regulated, even if they have been tested outside the European Union or carried out in the community.

Unfortunately the ban - and therefore the end of animal suffering - will only be introduced after a long transition period (year 2013).
